1970 Royals Replay


5-1 Clev- Strong outing for Morehead who pitched tired 1+ ings- BJ and Rooker moving into rotation next 2 games so pen was thin. P Kelly 3rd homer and Jackie keeps making things happen. Indians a nice little lineup- Pinson, Horton, Fosse, Nettles Roy Foster all good hitters with power-. Tribe was below 500 so a lost little nugget of a team. In real life the 5/2 game went 17 ings for a KC win- Mcdowell pitched that one vs Johnson, Drabowsky went 6 in relief only 1 this game

Pat Kelly hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Kansas City Royals defeated the
Cleveland Indians in 11 innings by a score of 4 to 3 at Municipal
Stadium.

The score was tied at 3 after nine. Kansas City won the hard fought contest
in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Kelly drew a walk. Amos Otis
stepped up next and he doubled giving Kansas City the win and sending the
home town fans into a frenzy. Cleveland had 10 hits in the game while Kansas
City had 7, but Kansas City had the more timely hits.

The win went to Moe Drabowsky(1-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Denny
Higgins(1-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and 1 walk
in 2 and 1/3 innings.
