1970 Royals Replay


5/29 at Wash- great duel- 2 off Coleman in 1rst but nothing after that-Rooker another great outing- 8th ing 2 outs 1 man on F Howard up- can't risk the big guy stealing it especially vs LH-I bring in Bob Johnson who gives up no homers vs RH on his card BIG Frank don't care rolls his card 1-11 HR split = 11 and Keough has a chance to robb it he's a 3 so 1-11 hr and it's a 12 - ROBBED- Homer vs Rooker a LH was gone- so a small but key move- pat on the back to me

Center fielder Amos Otis had 2 base hits at R.F.K. Stadium as the Kansas City
Royals beat the Washington Senators by the count of 2 to 1.

Kansas City wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
scored 2 runs on 2 hits. That was all the offense they were to need.
Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning.

The winning pitcher was Jim Rooker(5-2) who allowed 1 run in 7 and 2/3
innings. Tom Burgmeier was credited with his 2nd save. Joe Coleman(5-6) was
tagged with the loss. He pitched 8 innings allowing only 2 hits and 3
walks.
