Steve Hargan(11-6) was on top of his game in New York as he tossed a beauty of
a no-hitter against the New York Yankees. The Cleveland Indians won by a
score of 1 to 0.
Hargan was spectacular. He walked 3 New York batters. The tension was
mounting with every inning after the 6th. Hargan appeared oblivious himself
to the mounting history until two were out in the 9th. Only then, did he
allow himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. Cleveland
banged out 9 on the night.
Fritz Peterson(8-9) was tagged with the loss. 'You probably have a better
chance of winning the lottery than this happening,' said Hargan, 'I don't
expect it to sink in for awhile,' he said. 'I'm numb right now, I'm
overwhelmed.'
