Baltimore Orioles broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a 5
to 3 win over the Kansas City Royals and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.
Baltimore had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs. Don Buford got things going when he drew a walk. After an out was
recorded, Merv Rettenmund stepped in and he blasted a two-run home run (his
3rd of the season) giving Baltimore the win much to the delight of the home
town crowd. Baltimore had a total of 7 hits for the game.
The winning pitcher was Dick Hall(2-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Wally
Bunker(2-3) was charged with the loss in relief. He allowed 2 runs and 1 hit
in 1 and 1/3 innings.
