First baseman Bob Oliver had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Bill Butler went 7 strong
innings as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 9 to 1 at
Municipal Stadium.
Kansas City took the lead for good in the 4th inning when they tallied 2 runs
on 3 hits. The key at-bat was by Lou Piniella who thrilled the crowd when he
doubled which was good for two runs. Kansas City had 15 hits for the game
and Milwaukee had 4.
Butler(2-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 1 run.
John Morris(0-5) suffered the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 11 hits and
2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
