1970 Royals Replay


5/2 Cle- KC suffers from having no closer-Moe is tired and Ken Wright fails to hold a 2 run lead in 9th pitching tired most of ing- no other closer ready- KC fought back and tied it nearly won it- Hedlund in and he had nothing -AO triple brings it to -1 and Tribes last pitcher was tired a LH but Big Bozo Bob Oliver can't make the drama write itself.

20,727 fans watched an exciting game at Municipal Stadium. The Cleveland
Indians topped the Kansas City Royals by the slimmest of margins, 9 to
8.

The score was knotted at 7 after nine innings. Cleveland won it in the 10th
inning. Vada Pinson led off and he smacked a single. Tony Horton stepped up
to the plate and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 1st of the
season). Cleveland totaled 12 on the night.

Mike Paul(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 1/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Paul got relief help from Rick Austin who gained credit for
his 1st save. Mike Hedlund(0-1) suffered the loss in relief.
