In a dramatic ending, the Washington Senators staged a comeback win over the
Kansas City Royals by the count of 3 to 2.

Washington came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
using 4 hits. Bernie Allen led off and started the rally when he delivered a
single, and an error was also committed. Frank Howard next to the plate and
he doubled plating a run. After an out was recorded, Rick Reichardt stepped
up to the plate and he smacked a single plating one more runner. One out
later, Ed Brinkman came to the plate and laced a one-base hit making
Washington the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.
Washington had only 6 hits for the afternoon.

Darold Knowles(2-3) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Moe
Drabowsky(2-2) was hit with the loss in relief. 'Now that is what I call
fun! I just love baseball, especially games like this, of course,' Ted
Williams offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a great time - did you see
the fans go wild there at the end?!'

1970 Royal's Replay

5-27 Chi-- Great game- Royals sloppy d early creates a defecit - fought back - bottom of order continues to play well-Ellie today. Big Bob gets hurt and puts Fiore in as replacement in his last game- trade tommorow for Tommy Matchick. Mike seems to have lost his power from last year -strictly a singles hitter now. Another 69 cog is gone as the team starts to remake themselves.
In the 9th vs Wood -Spanky 2 out single, brings Don Murphy in. Severson a phit walk and Joe Keogh bloops a 1* single to load them. Metro has Campanis phit for Alcarez and gets SSx but the great Aparicio still has some in the tank flips to Bobby Knopp to end game.

Solid relief from Bunker 3 ings (top 5 era still) and Moe 2 ings -no runs both.

Off day tomorow

Royals offense put up 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 2nd inning and topped
the Chicago White Sox by the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.

Dave Morehead(2-2) had a solid outing for Kansas City. He went 6 and 1/3
innings allowing 4 hits and 6 walks. Chicago threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.

Morehead got help from Ken Wright who was credited with his 2nd save. The
loss was charged to Billy Wynne(0-1). Don Gutteridge was in a sour mood
after the game. 'Even you guys up in the press box know why we lost this
game. We made too many mistakes.'
