One run was the difference at Municipal Stadium as the Baltimore Orioles
defeated the reeling Kansas City Royals in 10 innings 3 to 2.
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Baltimore won the
game in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Frank Robinson drew a
walk. Robinson then stole second base. Merv Rettenmund then was walked
intentionally. Paul Blair was up next and he drew a walk to load the bases.
Brooks Robinson came to the plate and delivered a one-base hit scoring the
run. The Kansas City batters went down meekly in the bottom of the 10th.
The victory went to Jim Palmer(3-1) who went 9 innings, allowing 2 runs. Eddie
Watt gained credit for his 2nd save. Jim Rooker(1-1) was given the loss in
relief.
