| Game 3 first loss- reality for KC - Butler not a strong pitcher and Oak found their power- could have been worse- so far I'm using very close to actual lineups and rotation The Royals Cedric Tallis was begginging to bui;d the nucleaus- the OF isn't bad at all Pinellia in LF ROY Otis now in CF after the winter trade (AO and their best pitcher Bob Johnson for old Joe Foy -yikes) Pat Kelly in RF is a solid vet and under appreciated leadoff man- 30-40 steals 80 walks- nice Bob Oliver gets moved to 1b and 3b a our first legit power hitter- Paul Schaal begins to emerge as a decent 3b along with 69 gem Mike Fiore at 1b whose bubble will soon pop The Royals only lack a reliable catcher (Ellie Rodriguez and Buck Martinez very young still) and have the worst middle infield in history of MLB- Tallis was working on that though- By midseason Cookie Rojas comes over from StL to anchor 2b and after the season Fred Patek to SS from Pit- with a good mgr in Bob Lemon the 71 suprise should not have been too much of one- The rotation took a hit with injuires in 70-Roger Nelson, Wally Bunker and Bill Butler all fought injuries after solid 1969 season- only Drago and the addition of Johnson gave the Royals consistent SP Rooker was decent too but wasn't the great hitter he was in 69. |
