Joe Keough had 2 base hits as the Kansas City Royals beat the Oakland A's by a
score of 3 to 1.
Kansas City came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning when they had
4 base hits. After an out was recorded, Amos Otis keyed the rally when he
laced a base-knock. Otis got a great jump and stole second easily. Kansas
City continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Bob Oliver
dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Ed Kirkpatrick stepped
into the box and laced a base-hit knocking in a run. Kansas City got their
2nd stolen base of the inning. Luis Alcaraz stepped up next and he delivered
a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. Kansas City had 7 hits
for the night.
The victory was credited to Dick Drago(1-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 1
run. Drago got relief help from Moe Drabowsky who gained credit for his 2nd
save. Jim Hunter(0-1) ended up with the loss.
