Left fielder Al Oliver had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Luke Walker took a
no-hitter into the 7th inning as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the
Minnesota Twins 5 to 3 at Forbes Field.

Walker(1-0) gave a fine effort for Pittsburgh. He went 6 and 1/3 innings
allowing 3 hits and no walks seeing his ERA drop from 9.00 to 4.91. The
left-handed Walker lost his no-hit bid when Rod Carew singled with one out in
the 7th inning. Minnesota was out-hit by Pittsburgh, 9 hits to 5.

Walker got help from Chuck Hartenstein who was credited with his 1st save.
Jim Kaat(1-1) absorbed the loss. He gave up 8 hits and 5 walks in 6 innings.
