Tom Seaver held Philadelphia scoreless on just 3 hits as the New York club
beat the Philadelphia team by a score of 5 to 0.

Seaver(25-10) was virtually untouchable. He allowed only 3 hits and 2 walks
in 9 innings. Seaver chalked up 14 strikeouts. New York finished with 8
hits in the victory.

Tom Underwood(16-12) was tagged with the loss. It was a tough loss for him as
he did not allow an earned run in his 3 innings of work.

Seaver didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had
14 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent
total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good,
isn't it?'
