In a dramatic ending the Washington Senators staged a comeback and held on to
win over the Kansas City Royals by the count of 7 to 4.

Washington scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning when they
tallied 4 runs on 3 hits. The key at-bat was by Bernie Allen who quieted the
crowd when he belted a three-run homer (his 4th of the season). Both teams
finished the game with 12 hits.

Darold Knowles(3-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Moe
Drabowsky(2-3) took the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs and 2 hits in 2/3
of an inning.

Charlie Metro 19-35 was understandably not very talkative after his team's
tough loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game
had a terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker
to lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't
smilin' on us tonight'
