In an exciting finish the Kansas City Royals pulled out a win over the
Washington Senators by a score of 3 to 2 at Municipal Stadium.
The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. Amos Otis drew a walk.
Bob Oliver was next and he stroked a base-hit. Oliver took second on the
throw. Joe Keough then would hit into a fielders choice resulting in a
mighty exciting win for Kansas City and the 15,417 home town fans in
attendance. Washington had 9 hits in the game while Kansas City had 6, but
Kansas City had the more timely hits.
The win was credited to Wally Bunker(3-3) who went 1/3 of an inning allowing
no runs. Joe Grzenda(1-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run
and 3 hits in 2 innings.
