Lou Piniella had 2 base hits at Yankee Stadium where the Kansas City Royals
beat the New York Yankees 3 to 2.
Kansas City jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring 2 runs
utilizing 4 base hits. After two were out Amos Otis started the attack as he
doubled. Piniella was next and he lined a base-hit driving in a run. Ed
Kirkpatrick then doubled. Paul Schaal came up and he ripped a base-knock
scoring the final run of the inning. New York made it exciting in the 9th,
but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Dick Drago(4-7) was the winner allowing 1 run in 7 and 1/3 innings. Tom
Burgmeier gained credit for his 3rd save. Stan Bahnsen(4-4) was the loser.
