Left fielder Jim Rice rocketed 2 homeruns and scored 4 times as the Boston Red
Sox beat the Kansas City Royals by a score of 11 to 4.
It was a good day for Boston thanks to Rice. He smashed a solo-shot out of
the park in the 3rd inning, cracked a solo homerun (his 2nd of the season) in
the 5th inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 7th inning and lashed a single
in the 8th inning. Boston kept the pressure on throughout the contest as
they scored in 6 different innings.
Roger Moret(1-0) allowed 3 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Al Fitzmorris(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 8 hits and
3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
