History was made in ATLANTA as Barry Zito(12-2) tossed a no-hitter and the
BALTIMORE SCHOONERS defeated the ATLANTA NITROS by the score of 8 to 0.

Zito had his best stuff and was 'painting the black' with every pitch. A
beautiful game to watch. He walked 4 ATLANTA batters. The tension was
mounting with every inning after the 6th. Zito appeared oblivious himself to
the mounting history until two were out in the 9th. Only then, did he allow
himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. BALTIMORE banged out
13 on the afternoon.

Bartolo Colon(11-7) ended up with the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in
his 5 innings of work. 'Not in my wildest dreams did I think this would
happen!' Zito said as he stood at home plate to salute the fans. 'Once I got
into the later innings, I decided to challenge every hitter, and that turned
out to be the right decision!'

One run was the difference at Riverfront Stadium as the Cincinnati ballclub
defeated the Pittsburgh club 6 to 5.

Cincinnati won the game with a rally in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs using 3
hits. Tony Perez opened up the inning nicely when he ripped a base-knock,
and an error was also committed. After an out was recorded, Dave Concepcion
came to the plate and doubled plating a run. Cesar Geronimo struck out,
unable to help the rally. Rawley Eastwick stepped in and he slapped a
base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Pittsburgh threatened in the
9th but their rally came up short.

Eastwick(1-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 and 1/3 innings. Kent
Tekulve(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and no walks
in 1/3 of an inning.

Sox 9 to 8.

Dennis Leonard(1-0) earned his pay with a solid performance for Kansas City.
