San Francisco fans certainly got their money's worth at Seals Stadium. Mike
McCormick(2-5) pitched a rare no-hitter as the San Francisco Giants toppled
the Chicago White Sox 2 to 0.

McCormick was cheered on with every out from the 7th inning onward. The
adrenaline had to be just pumping through his veins. The atmosphere was
electric out there in Seals Stadium this afternoon! He surrendered no walks
and could have tossed a perfect game if it were not for the fielding error.
The tension was mounting with every inning after the 6th. McCormick appeared
oblivious himself to the mounting history until two were out in the 9th.
Only then, did he allow himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the
mound. San Francisco banged out 8 on the afternoon.

Joe Horlen(3-2) was hit with the loss. 'Not in my wildest dreams did I think
this would happen!' McCormick said as he stood at home plate to salute the
fans. 'Once I got into the later innings, I decided to challenge every
hitter, and that turned out to be the right decision!'

Best Game of Year

Strat-O-Matic Report

A tale of 2 closers-as in real life Donnie Moore can't get that last out ever and Keith Foulke seems to find a way to escape even when he doesn't. Sox edge closer to 1rst place tie and Angels continue to flounder. Rooster has a day though replacing the woeful hitting Wilfong at 2b. This is the type of game that reflects the auroa of Strat.

Manny Ramirez went yard at Fenway Park as the Boston Red Sox came back
dramatically to top the California Angels by the score of 7 to 6.

Boston had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs
using 2 hits. After two outs Kevin Youkilis was the sparkplug when he banged
out a single. Doug Mirabelli came next and he cleared the fences for a
two-run home run (his 2nd of the season) resulting in an exciting win for
Boston and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. The game was
a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.

Keith Foulke(1-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing 3
runs. Donnie Moore(1-4) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning
and surrendered 2 hits and no walks.
